A GREAT Monday!

First things first!  Today was a pretty GREAT day!  Despite going to bed at a pretty awful hour last night I was able to get up at decent time this morning and fall pretty easily back into my routine.  Work went well too.. it was actually a pretty smooth day.  After work was the best part of the day though!  I had promised my husband I would clean out the fridge, which I did (and it was absolutely sickening.. I have never smelled something as rancid as left over mashed potatoes..BARF!) Regardless, I did what I said I would do (which is one of my biggest pet peeves... you know, when someone says they are going to do something.. and then they don't) and the fridge was cleaned out and the garbage can taken to the street for trash pick up!  I then proceeded to go down the road to our local sonic to pick up some beverages for the husband and I.  For him a large Dr.Pepper, and for myself a large water with a lemon slice!  Then I got to see Chad's new chief get sworn in at the town hall.  It was very cool.  It was pretty crowded and people clapped and clapped and clapped and smiled.  I honestly felt like I was in some sort of Mayberry or Pleasantville sort of moment.  Awesome experience though!  I had really wanted to go and watch because I highly respect the people Chad works with... for the most part they are all around good people with nice families.  I respect that.

Though, my highlight of the day so far came after all of this... All day I had been planning!  I received my e-vic email the other day and made sure not to delete it.  So in my spare time today I checked all of the specials out between my local Harris Teeter and Food Lion.  I then proceeded to plan a rough menu for the next three weeks.  I went and did my shopping and in my eyes I was successful!  I know my husband was extremely doubtful.  He KNOWS how much I enjoy food, and how much more I enjoy shopping for it.  (The grocery store really probably is one of my few weaknesses).  So Chad was obviously worried I would break the bank on this trip.  Here is a picture of the majority of my purchases... you have to look close to see the four packages of 96% lean ground beef and the five packs of boneless chicken breasts (three in each pack) and some of the smaller fruit and vegetable items but it really is a lot of food for two people...

So the grand total for groceries was $140... Not too shabby if I do say so myself! It definitely helped that chicken was buy 2 packs get three free... best special ever?! YES!  I always un-package all of the chicken and cut all of the fat off of each breast and then put pairs of breasts into freezer bags to cook at a later time!  It works for us!  After I sent Chad the picture I think he was also impressed... I hope so at least!

On one last note... ONLY 2.5 DAYS UNTIL SOMETHING AWESOME HAPPENS!!!
